What Is Website Maintenance?
Website maintenance is the regular work that keeps a site safe and working. It includes software updates, security patches, backups and small content changes. Skipping it is like never servicing a car. It runs fine for a while, then breaks at the worst time.

What Maintenance Covers
- Software updates. WordPress, your theme and approved plugins, kept up to date.
- Security patches. We fix weak spots in your website software as soon as fixes come out.
- Security check twice a year. We test your site by hand against the OWASP Top 10, the ten most common ways websites get attacked.
- Backups after every update. A full copy of your site, shared with you securely.
- Problem fixing. If your website software breaks, we find the cause and fix it.
- Small changes each month. Up to 1 hour a month for text, image and file updates.
- Safe logins. Separate admin accounts with two-step login for everyone who has access.
- Fast replies. Support in Sri Lanka business hours. We reply within 4 business hours.
What It Does Not Cover
We look after your website software. Your hosting company looks after the server, the domain and the DNS. If the problem is on their side, we help you deal with them. Urgent work outside business hours and extra changes beyond the monthly hour are billed by the hour, and only after you approve.
A Breach We Caught
On 9 March 2026, a botnet broke into our own website, hypesrilanka.com, through a weak WordPress plugin. It hid files inside a real plugin folder, created a fake admin user and tried to email stolen passwords to the attackers. Our email provider blocked those emails and sent us the bounce. We found the infection within 24 hours.
We removed the hidden files and the fake user, reset every password and login key, locked down file permissions, blocked risky server functions and added rules that stop the site talking to unknown servers. Getting hit was not fun. But it taught us what to look for. We now use the same lockdown steps on the sites we maintain.
We Warn You About New Threats
In October 2026, a serious flaw called PHP2SHELL was found in older versions of PHP, the language WordPress runs on. It could let attackers take over a server. How much does website maintenance cost in Sri Lanka?
For a small website, our maintenance is a bi-annual contract from LKR 50,000 every 6 months, which is LKR 100,000 a year. High-end websites and online stores may need a monthly contract. You get a written price before you sign.
How do I know if my website has been hacked?
Common signs are strange pop-ups, pages in other languages, Google warnings, sudden slowness, new admin users you did not create or emails you did not send. Some attacks stay hidden for months. That is why regular checks matter.
What happens if my site goes down?
If the problem is in your website software, we fix it and can restore a clean backup. If the problem is your hosting server, we help you work with your hosting company to get it back online.
Do you look after websites someone else built?
Yes. We start with a health check. If the site is in good shape, we take it on as it is. If it has serious problems, we tell you what needs fixing first.
